I took a class freshman year called The Art of Writing. One assignment we had was to sit and observe something for one hour, and we had to capture those observances in 750 words or less. I went to the campus recreation center to observe the treadmill area and watch the runners come and go. I received a 100% on this paper, which I was extremely proud of because this class and teacher were very challenging.

This is a paper I wrote for my freshman English class: Writing Rhetoric. The assignment was to evaluate a current thing, person or phenomenon in pop culture with an emphasis on the modes of persuasion. I chose to write about the Heartland Festival that Luis Palau held in Omaha, Neb. in the summer of July 2007. I received a 98% on this paper with a comment on the last page saying it was "one of the best in the class."
