About/Résumé

ABOUT ME ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not uncommon to hear the phrase "my dad always says" followed by some bit of wisdom in one of my conversations. My dad is one of the wisest people I know and is always sharing his lessons with me, helping me avoid the same mistakes he made in life, and I find myself spreading his wisdom in many of my conversations.

"My dad always says that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar."
"My dad always says that 99% of the things you worry about never even come true."
"My dad always says not to sweat the small stuff."

One day I hope to become as knowledgable as my dad - knowing good from bad, left from right and down from up. But I have to start somewhere, and this is where "my dad always says..." comes into play. My goal for this blog is to record the lessons and tidbits I pick up in my time as a young professional. It can be realizations I've come to, stories I've read, memorable advice I've heard or anything I've found interesting that pertains to my field.

As you can see from my resume, I graduated in December of 2010 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I double majored in advertising and Spanish and earned a concentration in English. I was active in extracurriculars, internships and volunteering and was even able to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain for a semester. Post-graduation, I worked in a marketing internship and began working full-time in Marketing/SEO at a boutique real estate agency in Downtown Omaha, Landmark Group.

When I'm not pursuing my future I enjoy working out, watching movies, spending time outside, relaxing with my boyfriend, friends and family, traveling, reading, learning and so much more.

I am a determined, hard working, passionate person, so I want my position and work to reflect that.
Below, you can find my résumé, my honors and awards, recommendations and praises for my work. On other pages of my blog, you can find the projects I worked on in undergrad, samples from my undergraduate jobs, writing samples and my professional work samples. Also, be sure to read through my blog to take a peak into my world for a while. Please feel free to comment on anything.

PRAISES AND RECOMMENDATIONS -------------------------------------
A recommendation for my work as Search Engine Optimizer at Landmark Group:
“Lauren built my website from the ground up and I could not be more excited to present to you and anyone who would want to see it. I have had such great reviews regarding the site. It is top notch and Lauren did every single thing to the site that I requested. She caught my vision and put it into a fabulous website that I'm sure will benefit my business for years to come. So glad we have her at Landmark Group. Check out my site:www.HuskerDreamHomes.com.

- Jennifer Murdoch, REALTOR® at Landmark Group

Judges comments from the Best of Collegiate Design competition for my "That's so Maric" design: "Of all the pages in this category, Lauren Case's 'That's so Maric' design was far and away the most sophisticated. Sports is a section that likes to yell, so it was a pleasant surprise to see something that spoke softly, but still carried the same power. The typography is elegant, and the black-and-white photos create a magazine feel. In fact, this work would be at home in the big-time, professional sports magazines - lucky for the Daily Nebraskan, Lauren Case works for them (for now)."

A recommendation for my work as the Public Relations Intern at the Lied Center for Performing Arts: “Lauren and I worked together as part of a public relations internship team for one semester at the Lied Center. We were quickly thrown into a very fast-paced environment and were expected to brainstorm and present professional ideas and work, often on a uniquely short time schedule. Despite being the youngest on the team, Lauren always took initiative to get things done, kept the team motivated, and helped us stay on track. She was responsible, personable, and respectful---all qualities I appreciate in a co-worker. The amount of industry experience that Lauren has already accumulated is evidence of her dedication and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel in whatever positions come to her in the future.”

- Elise Hernandez, fellow PR intern, current Account Coordinator at Thought District

A recommendation for my work as a designer at the Daily Nebraskan student newspaper: “When I was sports editor at The Daily Nebraskan, the nights always went by faster and smoother when Lauren designed my pages. She was more than just proficient at her craft -- her humor and understanding made working with her a special treat that is hard to find anywhere. Further, it became obvious to me that Lauren poured herself into whatever she was committed to, and it showed up in her work. I envy the people who will experience the privilege of working with Lauren in the future. Her unique blend of talent, wit and basic empathy toward co-workers make her a no-brainer hire for whatever company is lucky enough to land her services.”
-Evan Bland, former sports editor for the Daily Nebraskan, currently a sports writer for the Omaha World Herald and the Daily Nonpareil newspapers

A recommendation for my work as a designer at the Daily Nebraskan student newspaper: “In my time working with Lauren, I have to say she is one of the most talented and driven individuals I have ever had the privilege to work with. Whenever something was asked of her, or when she was my boss, she got everything done with a positive attitude. Following in her footsteps has been a privilege and a pleasure. She would be an amazing addition to any design staff.”
-Emily Bliss, current Design Chief for the Daily Nebraskan

A testimonial from a fellow classmate of mine at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln: “Lauren is one of the most talented designers that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She has an eye for effective communication/promotion, and her execution is spot-on. Combine this with her work ethic and you have a can't-miss prospect.”

-Andrew O'Neill, current Associate Account Manager in Search Marketing at Yahoo!
